Swiss-Belhotel International has entered a new phase of its Africa growth strategy with the signing of a management agreement for The Gama by Swiss-Belhotel in Nairobi.
The new property, located in the Kilimani district, is scheduled to open within the next 12 months and will add a lifestyle-oriented hotel to Swiss-Belhotel’s expanding East African portfolio.
The development is owned by Albushra Real Estate Limited, with Swiss-Belhotel International appointed as the operator under a long-term management arrangement.
The hotel will feature 155 guest rooms alongside a mix of leisure and business amenities designed to serve both corporate and lifestyle travellers.
Planned facilities include multiple food and beverage outlets, fitness and wellness spaces, rooftop leisure features, and large-scale event and meeting infrastructure aimed at capturing Nairobi’s growing hospitality and conferencing demand.
Swiss-Belhotel said the launch of The Gama represents a strategic brand extension tailored to evolving travel patterns, particularly among younger and experience-driven travellers seeking modern design, social connectivity and efficient service delivery.
The group views Nairobi as a key gateway city, supported by its role as a regional business hub and a centre for diplomatic, commercial and technology activity in East Africa.
Executives involved in the signing noted that the project reinforces confidence in Kenya’s long-term tourism and real estate fundamentals.
The Kilimani location was identified as a high-growth urban node with strong demand from both local and international visitors, driven by proximity to business districts, residential developments and lifestyle destinations.
For Swiss-Belhotel International, the Nairobi project strengthens its regional footprint and aligns with a broader push into high-potential African markets.
The group already operates multiple properties across East Africa and continues to position the continent as a core pillar of its global expansion strategy.
The debut of The Gama brand in Nairobi is expected to serve as a launchpad for further rollouts in Africa and other emerging markets, as Swiss-Belhotel seeks to scale its portfolio with differentiated brands that respond to local market dynamics while maintaining global operating standards.
