MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has expanded its subscriber base by 6.7 percent year-on-year to 84.7 million as at June 30, 2025, according to its latest unaudited results released Wednesday.
The telecoms giant also reported an 11.8 percent rise in active data users to 51 million amid the increase in demand for digital services across Nigeria.
Data Growth Driving Performance
The growth in subscribers was underpinned by a 41.2 percent increase in data traffic year-on-year, driven by targeted customer engagement, improved network capacity, and the phased implementation of price adjustments during the second quarter.
MTN Nigeria noted that despite regulatory restrictions on third-party SIM registrations introduced in the first quarter, customer additions remained resilient, with a net gain of 3.8 million subscribers in the first half of the year.
