Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has publicly disagreed with Senator Ned Nwoko over his recent claim that his wife, actress Regina Daniels, was 21 years old at the time of their marriage, not 17 as widely believed.
The disagreement began after Senator Nwoko, on Thursday morning, shared what he described as Regina Daniels’ voter’s card on social media.
The card showed her date of birth as 1998, which would make her 21 at the time of their marriage in 2019.
Sowore Shares Passport Showing Different Birth Date
However, just a few hours later, Sowore countered the senator’s claim by sharing a copy of Regina Daniels’ international passport.
According to the activist, the passport revealed that the actress was born on October 10, 2001, suggesting that she was under 18 when she got married.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Sowore wrote: “We have obtained a copy from Regina Daniels’s international passport, which was issued based on her birth certificate. She was underage at the time of her marriage to Chinedu @Senator Prince Ned Nwoko.”
Sowore went further to question the credibility of the data used in obtaining the voter’s card, arguing that such identification may not be thoroughly verified.
“It’s crucial to question INEC Nigeria on this discrepancy, as he is currently using an @INECNigeria voter’s card to assert her age. As he knows, the process for obtaining a voter’s card may not involve the rigorous scrutiny required for an international passport, which is based on a birth certificate and other legitimate IDs,” he wrote.
Sowore Accuses Nwoko of Deliberate Cover-Up
The activist further accused the senator of intentionally concealing the truth about his wife’s real age. According to Sowore, Nwoko avoided travelling with Regina to Europe or America because official scrutiny in those countries could expose inconsistencies in her documents.
“The crooked All Progressives Congress Senator knew what he was doing. That’s the reason he never travelled with @ReginaDaniels to Europe or America,” Sowore alleged.

The renewed debate over Regina Daniels’ age has once again stirred public controversy on social media, with many Nigerians demanding clarification from both the senator and the actress.
Some users argued that the matter should have been settled years ago, while others praised Sowore for “standing for the truth”.
