Sowore Escapes Gunfire at #FreeNnamdiKanuNow Protest in Abuja

Human rights activist and convener of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, narrowly escaped gunfire during a demonstration in Abuja on Monday.

According to Report, security operatives comprising police and military personnel took control of the protest venue around 7 a.m. before the march began.

A viral video circulating on social media showed Sowore and other protesters fleeing the scene as gunshots were reportedly fired to disperse the crowd.

The protesters had gathered to march toward the Aso Rock Presidential Villa to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021.
