“South-East no longer OBIdient, we’re now for Tinubu” – Umahi

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has declared that the South-East region, especially Ebonyi State, has turned its back on the Peter Obi-led OBIdient Movement and is now backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Saturday during the Ohanivo 2025 New Yam Festival in Onicha Local Government Area, Umahi said years of political marginalisation have made the people of the South-East politically wiser.

He stressed that the region would no longer follow the OBIdient agenda.

“No More OBIdient Influence”

Umahi stated: “We are not OBIdient people. We have been so marginalised that we are no longer OBIdient. No, we are not. But it is the man that has given us a sense of belonging, President Bola Tinubu. Let it not be that we are from Ebonyi State and they are saying this state belongs to us. There is no OBIdient person in Ebonyi.”

He added that the people of the South-East have learned from past experiences and will no longer be deceived.

“The last election was a mistake, but we have come to be wiser,” he said, urging citizens to acknowledge the development and goodwill Tinubu has shown the region.
