Survivor and motivational speaker Kechi Okwuchi has marked her 36th birthday with a heartwarming message of gratitude and reflection.
The Sosoliso Airlines crash survivor took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, October 29, 2025, to express her deep appreciation for life, family, and health.
In her post, Kechi shared: “I’m 36 today! I’m just grateful for you all, grateful for my friends and family, grateful to be here, to be sound of mind and body. That last part alone is the ultimate blessing tbh. Happy birthday to me.”
A story of strength and survival
Kechi Okwuchi is one of only two survivors of the Sosoliso Airlines Flight 185 crash that occurred in 2005, claiming the lives of 108 passengers in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
She sustained severe burns and underwent over 60 reconstructive surgeries during her recovery journey.

 
Over the years, Kechi has transformed her pain into purpose. Her story of survival has inspired millions globally, as she continues to advocate for burn survivors and aviation safety.
Her resilience, courage, and faith have earned her widespread recognition, from appearing on America’s Got Talent as a singer to becoming a TEDx speaker who shares messages of healing, self-acceptance, and hope.
