Two siblings, Ajuwon Babawale and Ajuwon Samiat were on Friday arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over alleged stealing of gold jewelleries worth over N20 million.
Babawale, 37, and Samiat, 32, who reside at Ibadan are being charged with conspiracy, stealing and breach of public peace, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Akeem Akinloye told the court that the defendants committed the offences at about 9.00a.m. on Jan. 1, at 34 Stargate, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan
Akinloye further said that Babawale and Samiat stole 24 carat hand chain valued N11.8 million, and 18 carat necklace worth N8.6 million, belonging to the complainant, Emeka Eze.
The prosecutor stated that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to caused breach of public peace.
“They entered the complainant’s apartment and made video recordings without his knowledge,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 249 (6), 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi admitted the first defendant to N5 million bail and two sureties in like sum.
She granted the second defendant bail on self recognition, and adjourned the matter until April 21, for hearing.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
