Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Lagos State to participate in the 2025 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference.
The Vice President was received on Monday by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside other senior government officials.
Governor Sanwo-Olu was later welcomed at the conference venue by top military commanders.
Also in attendance is the Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa, who joined other service chiefs at the event and was seen exchanging pleasantries with former colleagues.
Confirming the Vice President’s participation, Stanley Nkwocha, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), disclosed in a post on X that Shettima is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Special Guest of Honour.
Nkwocha noted that on arrival at the conference venue, the Vice President inspected a military guard of honour, in keeping with established armed forces protocol for distinguished guests.
The annual conference, themed ‘Examining the Current Landscape of Terrorism Through the Lenses of Diplomatic and Military Action Strategy for Long-term Prevention and Stabilisation’, is focused on developing comprehensive approaches to addressing security challenges through coordinated diplomatic and military efforts.
The programme will also feature the presentation of a book titled ‘A Life of Service’, written in honour of the 23rd Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
