Shehu Sani reacts as Kirt’s wife says she’s forgiven her husband’s killer

Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, has praised the wife of late American commentator Charlie Kirk after she publicly declared that she has forgiven her husband’s killer.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, 22 September, 2025, Sani described the widow as an extraordinary woman for showing such strength and compassion despite her tragic loss.

I don’t share the political opinions or ideas of Charlie Kirk, I’m actually in the opposite of it. His murder is condemnable; but I’m stunned by his wife who publicly said she has forgiven the killer of her husband,” Sani wrote.

He added that Charlie Kirk’s widow had sent a powerful message to a world trapped in cycles of violence, revenge and bloodshed driven by politics, economics and territorial disputes.

He said: “That woman is an extraordinary human being. Charlie’s widow sends a powerful message to a World enmeshed in incessant and mass killings and vendetta for political, economic or territorial reasons.”

Reactions to the post

Akan Macauley wrote: “That’s what a true Christian would do in such circumstances. That’s what Charlie would, that’s what Christ taught us all. Because of one man sin entered the world and by one man sin is forgiven. Charlie’s spirit and work lives on.”

John A wrote: “I FORGIVE HIM! This is ‘raw-form’ Christianity. This is what Charlie lived and died for. Forgiveness is one of the hardest things you’d ever do as a Christian, but it’s at the core of the gospel. I pray that young murderer comes to faith in Christ before he dies 🙏”

Galliani wrote: “That’s what Christ taught us to do & she even made an altar call for Christ at her husband’s funeral 😢 God is love & he gave us the most precious gift which is JESUS CHRIST 🙏”

Abba C.I wrote: “‘Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us’ Our boldness as christians going to God to ask for forgiveness is in our willingness to forgive others. We cannot overcome hate with more hate. An eye for an eye will only leave the world completely blind.”

Kez wrote: “What was his political opinion, you just used political opinion broadly to hide your believe, say his political opinion, then we shall know what you actually believe, he believed in meritocracy, family and the American dream, he is also pro life. What is it you dont believe?”
