Billionaire politician and lawyer, Ned Nwoko, has finally broken his silence amid viral claims suggesting he married Nollywood actress Regina Daniels when she was just 17 years old.
In a lengthy statement on X, Ned Nwoko debunked the allegations, describing them as false, misleading, and malicious. According to him, Regina was 21 years old when they met not 17 as widely reported online.
“It has come to my attention that false claims are being circulated by Regina, suggesting that I married her when she was 17 years old. These claims are entirely untrue,” he said.
Ned explained that during their first meeting, he asked Regina for her age, and she presented an INEC voter’s card showing her date of birth as October 10, 1998.
“For clarity, during my first meeting with Regina, I asked her age and she told me she was 21. She showed me her INEC voter’s card as proof. I kept that document from that day till now.”
He added that their marriage took place six years ago, which makes Regina 27 years old today, not 23 or 24 as some reports claim.
The Delta-born businessman also referenced a BBC interview granted by Regina’s mother shortly after their marriage, saying her statements further confirm his version of events.
However, Ned didn’t stop there. In a shocking twist, he urged the public to take Regina’s current claims “with caution,” citing her alleged struggles with drug addiction and unfinished rehabilitation.
“Until these facts are verified, the public should approach all her claims with discernment, especially given her current mental condition, having started and abandoned her rehabilitation from illegal drug addiction.”
This comes after activist Omoyele Sowore publicly called out Ned Nwoko for marrying Regina Daniels as a minor, releasing passport evidence and alleging that he introduced her to drugs to control her.
The revelation has since set social media on fire, with fans divided between believing Ned’s defense and questioning why he publicly referenced Regina’s alleged addiction.
