Regina Akume Speaks at Son’s Wedding Reception

Regina, who represents Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, made the remarks about her husband’s alleged new marriage during the wedding reception of their son in Makurdi, Benue State.

The federal lawmaker used the moment not just to celebrate family but also to address an issue that has sparked public interest in recent days.

A video of the moment, recorded at the event, later surfaced online and immediately stirred reactions from Nigerians.

Her comments came just days after Senator Akume marked his 72nd birthday celebration.

“Remember Christianity Brought You This Far” – Regina Tells Husband

During her speech, Regina prayed extensively for her husband, asking God to bless him with long life, good health, and wisdom.

She reminded him of his strong Christian foundation, stressing that his rise to national prominence was rooted in his faith in God.

Regina warned that abandoning Christianity at this stage would not bring success or fulfillment.

Encouraging him to “return fully to Christianity,” she urged him to remain committed to Christ, noting that divine grace, not human effort, led him to his current position.

She said: “I pray that the Lord will increase his years, good health of mind and body, and give him clarity in thinking and doing things right. And he should remember that he is a Christian, and it is Christianity that brought him this far. To drop Christianity now and go for anything else, he will not be successful. So my advice to him is to come back to Christianity and follow the line of Christ. We came all the way to the office of SGF, not through enemies but through Jesus Christ. And Jesus Christ is still alive and still working for us. I wish that he would come back to Christianity.”
