Seplat Energy Plc has announced the appointment of Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed and Mr. Larry Ephraim Ettah as Independent Non-Executive Directors of the company, effective January 1, 2026.
The appointments were disclosed in a statement issued in Lagos and London on December 17, 2025. Seplat Energy said the new directors were selected following a formal recruitment process conducted in line with the Board of Directors’ succession plan.
The appointments follow the resignation of Mr. Bello Rabiu and Mr. Babs Omotowa from the Board in April 2025, after their appointments to the Board of NNPC Limited by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed brings more than 37 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong background in natural gas development, commercialization, and infrastructure.
He previously served as Group Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Gas and Power Directorate, at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, where he played key roles in the development of major gas policies and infrastructure projects, including the Gas Masterplan, Gas Network Code, the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano Gas Pipeline, and Nigeria LNG Train 7.
Mr. Larry Ephraim Ettah is a seasoned corporate executive with close to four decades of experience across multiple sectors.
He spent 30 years at UAC of Nigeria Plc, rising to the position of Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, a role he held from 2007 to 2018.
His tenure was marked by major strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and portfolio restructuring initiatives aimed at repositioning the conglomerate for long-term growth.
Commenting on the appointments, Chairman of Seplat Energy Plc, Mr. Udoma Udo Udoma, said the Board is pleased to welcome Engineer Mohammed and Mr. Ettah, noting that their combined industry expertise and business leadership experience will strengthen the company’s governance and support its strategic growth objectives.
The statement was signed by Mrs. Edith Onwuchekwa, Director Legal and Company Secretary of Seplat Energy Plc.
