Satguru Maharaj gives 2 conditions to help release Nnamdi Kanu

The founder of One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has said he is willing to help secure the release of the imprisoned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, if certain conditions are met.

Maharaj Ji revealed this during an interview on his temple’s in-house radio on Wednesday.

He stated that any genuine move to secure Kanu’s freedom must begin with ending the Biafra radio broadcast and stopping the sit-at-home order in the South-East.

Maharaj Ji says release must follow political settlement

The spiritual leader insisted that Kanu was still answerable to the terrorism charges levelled against him. According to him, the nature of the allegations would ordinarily attract a death sentence under the law.

He explained that Kanu’s survival was “by grace”, adding that his release could only be achieved through a political settlement rather than legal battles.

“Anybody who is accused of doing such a thing (terrorism) is sentenced to death,” he said. “It is only out of grace that Kanu was able to escape. So now it has to be by political settlement before he can be released.”

Maharaj Ji added that anyone seeking Kanu’s pardon must take concrete steps:

“They must not do so with empty hands; they should stop the Biafra radio wherever it is.”

Calls grow for political solution

The cleric joins other notable voices, including Abia State governor Alex Otti and activist Omoyele Sowore, who have been pushing for a political resolution to the long-standing case.

He encouraged residents of the South-East to remain hopeful, assuring them that efforts toward Kanu’s freedom are ongoing.

Governor Otti had earlier visited Kanu at the Sokoto prison and later met President Bola Tinubu in Abuja to discuss possible options for his release.
