Suspected bandits have abducted a road construction worker in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victim, identified as Kabiru Bature, a 35-year-old driver with Stantech Road Construction Company, was reportedly kidnapped around 7:14 p.m. on Thursday along the Kunduru–Kadanya feeder road.
According to intelligence obtained by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the gunmen laid an ambush on the road before whisking Bature away to an unknown destination.
Security sources said troops and other law enforcement personnel swiftly mobilised to the scene, blocking potential escape routes and launching a cordon-and-search operation to rescue the victim and track down the abductors.
It was gathered that the assailants fled into a nearby forest, where security forces are currently pursuing them using surveillance and tracking devices.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts were still ongoing to rescue the abducted worker and bring the perpetrators to justice.
