Photos have surfaced of the Moi University law student who took her own life in her hostel room, an incident that has left students and residents of Eldoret in deep shock.
Reginah, a female law student at Moi University in Eldoret, was discovered dead after a suspected suicide incident.
She was identified as Reginah Njeri Wanjiku, 20, a second-year law student.
Her body was discovered on Wednesday, March 25, hanging on the door grill of her rented house at Annex Shopping Centre in the Sugunanga area, police said.
Reports indicate that her mother tried to call her several times, but she did not pick up.
She later contacted her friends and asked them to check on her since she was not answering her phone calls.
Her friends went to her house, where they made the tragic discovery.
Police said the deceased used a cloth to hang herself and that she left a suicide note saying she loved everyone and was sorry for her decision.
The cause of the incident was not immediately known, and the body was taken to the mortuary for a postmortem as investigations continue.
The incident left her fellow students and friends in shock and mourning.
Police also confirmed that the case was among several suicide incidents reported on the same day, raising concern about mental health challenges among young people and university students in the country.
