Rimi College Class of 1982 to Hold Annual General Meeting on October 24-25 in Kaduna

The Rimi College Class of 1982, based in Kaduna, is set to gather for their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 24-25, 2025. This important event will take place in the College Assembly Hall, as announced by the Class Forum Chairman, Mr. Peter Sofa, and Secretary, Mr. Daniel Audu Laaki.

Fostering Connections and Sharing Experiences

The AGM aims to create a platform for members to discuss their welfare and strengthen their connections, especially as many have transitioned into retirement. “This meeting will provide an opportunity for members to share life experiences, particularly those who have retired, to guide those still in active service,” the statement noted.

Discussions will focus on preparing current members for life beyond their careers, fostering a supportive network among alumni.

Engaging with Current Students

In an effort to bridge the gap between past and present experiences, the AGM will feature sessions with current students. These interactions will provide alumni with insights into the modern student experience at Rimi College, which was established in 1949 and served as a boarding school until recent years.

Addressing the Challenges Faced by Rimi College

The alumni also expressed deep concern over the challenges facing the institution, particularly the significant reduction of its land, with approximately 83.5% sold to private developers and other institutions. “Our visit to the school was heartbreaking. Many of our former facilities have been transformed into private residences, leaving little space for current students,” the statement lamented.

The class members emphasized the importance of holding the AGM at the college this year to witness the situation firsthand and strategize on how to engage with Kaduna State authorities. “If we cannot reverse what has happened, we must at least work to prevent further loss of space for our students,” the statement asserted.

Call to Action for Alumni

Old students are strongly encouraged to attend this critical AGM, where vital issues will be addressed. Additionally, new officials will be elected to lead the Class Forum for the next three years, ensuring that the legacy of Rimi College continues to thrive.
