Residents and motorists in Aiyetoro–Itele, Ogun State, have expressed frustration over the worsening condition of the major access road linking their community to neighboring areas.
A viral video shared online shows a man lamenting bitterly as he navigated through the muddy, waterlogged road, calling on the state government to urgently intervene.
According to locals, the road has remained in a deplorable state for years, making daily movement difficult, especially during the rainy season.
Commercial drivers and traders have also decried the impact on business, saying vehicles often get stuck for hours due to deep potholes and flooding.
Public outrage and political reactions
The video has since sparked outrage on social media, with users slamming elected officials for neglecting the area.
One commenter wrote, “And this community get senator and honorable members representing their constituencies oo. Chai Nigeria.”
Another added, “Every election, they make useless promises to fix the roads. After campaigns, the people are left with mud, potholes, and endless suffering.”
The situation has reignited conversations about infrastructural decay and poor governance in Ogun State, with residents insisting they deserve better.
Calls for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s intervention
Several users directly appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to prioritize fixing the road. “See your people’s living condition, but you claim you fixed all the roads and even built an airport,” one user commented. “What’s the usefulness of an airport without good road networks?”
Residents have now called for immediate rehabilitation of the Aiyetoro–Itele Road, warning that further neglect could completely cut off the community from nearby towns and worsen the region’s economic challenges.
