The Member representing Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Mr Kama Nkemkanma, has called for peaceful and issue–based consensus engagements among political aspirants in Ebonyi.

Nkemkanma made the plea on Thursday in Abakaliki at a consultative meeting with the stakeholders and political leaders of Onicha Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi on his intention to run for a second term.

The lawmaker said his bid to return for a second term was in God’s hands coupled with the decision of Gov. Francis Nwifuru  and the stakeholders of the constituency.

“I am a man under authority and when you are under authority, you don’t just move but get clearance.

“I didn’t come to campaign or reel my achievemnts but to appreciate you for your past support and inform you of my desire to run for the office again.

“There is no need for conflict or bickering as power belongs to God, and He  gives it to whom He  wants,” he said.

He reiterated his support for the consensus arrangement among aspirants being anchored by the governor, expressing optimism of  eventual peaceful outcomes.

“The state governnor is naturally an  intelligent and a sensible man as there are lots of things he does that people do not know.

“I am sure he knows the right persons to choose, the right things to do and hopefully at the end, there will be no mistakes” he said.

Nkemkanma disclosed that the ongoing projects he attracted to  the constituency were still being executed under the 2024 budget cycle, assuring them  that more interventions would follow with subsequent budgetary provisions.

The Chairman of Onicha LGA, Chief Ikechukwu Ogbuofia, commended Nkemkanma for his “sterling” performances but noted that decisions regarding political endorsements were in the hands of  the governor.

“You are doing well, but your return for a second term lies in the hands of the governor. Whoever he asks us to support, we will do so,” he said.

He, however, described the visit as timely and appreciated the lawmaker for maintaining cordial relationship with stakeholders of the constituency. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
