Reno Omokri tackles folks who always say ‘May Nigeria not happen to me’

Former presidential aide and socio-political commentator, Reno Omokri, has slammed Nigerians who always highlight the challenges of the country and say ‘May Nigeria never happen to them’.

In a recent statement, Omokri argued that both good and bad experiences are part of human existence, insisting that Nigeria has continued to record progress in several sectors despite ongoing difficulties.

Omokri criticized the tendency of some citizens to attribute negative events to “Nigeria happening” to them, while ignoring the positive developments across the nation.

He drew comparisons with other countries, noting that the United States records about 20,000 murders annually, yet its citizens do not condemn their nation on the same scale.

Reno Omokri highlights recent achievements

Citing recent government initiatives, Omokri pointed to the student loan scheme, which has benefitted over 600,000 Nigerians, the decline in food inflation from 21.88% in July to 20.12% in August, and the country’s improved electricity generation, which recently peaked at 5,801.84MW, the highest in Nigeria’s history.

He further highlighted Nigeria’s shift from being Africa’s largest petrol importer to becoming the leading exporter of refined petroleum products in West Africa, noting that this development has contributed to reduced fuel prices.

According to him, this achievement ranks among the rare successes of civilian administrations, comparable only to the governments of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan

His remarks come following Arise TV anchor, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu’s tragic demise.

Sommie’s tragic passing

It would be recalled that prior to her unfortunate demise, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu had only in August prayed that Nigeria never happens to her or anyone she loved.

Reno said in part …

“May Nigeria Happen To Me And Keep Happening To Me As Long As I Live!

When bad things happen, enemies of this country are quick to say that ‘Nigeria has happened’ to them. But they take the good that occurs to them in Nigeria personally, without attributing it to our great nation.

Good and bad are as universal as day and night and are part of the ying yang of human existence.

Please fact-check me: Every year in America, 20,000 people are murdered. That is more than twice the murder rate in Nigeria. Have you ever heard Americans badmouthing their country as a result of this?

This is Earth. This is not heaven!
