The Retired Army, Navy and Air Force Officers’ Association of Nigeria (RANAO) has announced the election of Major General Hussaini A. Saliu (Rtd) as its new National President following the Association’s Annual General Meeting and National Convention held recently in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the Association, Air Commodore Sani A. Zakari (Rtd), the formal handing and taking over ceremony between the immediate past National President, Major General Abdulhafeez G. Adewuyi (Rtd), and the newly elected President will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Association’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
The ceremony is scheduled to commence at 11:00 a.m. at the RANAO National Secretariat, opposite the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess, Asokoro District, Abuja.
According to Zakari, the event marks a significant milestone in the Association’s history as leadership formally transitions to a new administration expected to advance the welfare of retired military officers and deepen the Association’s contributions to national development, security discourse and veterans’ affairs.
”Major General Hussaini A. Saliu (Rtd) emerged as the new National President of the Association following his election at the Annual General Meeting and National Convention recently held in Ibadan, Oyo State,” Zakari stated.
He added that the leadership transition reflects the Association’s longstanding tradition of orderly succession and institutional continuity.
The Association has invited members of the media to cover the event and urged media organisations to disseminate information about the ceremony in the public interest.
According to Zakari, journalists nominated to cover the event are required to contact the National Publicity Secretary for accreditation and other necessary details ahead of the ceremony.
RANAO is the umbrella body for retired officers of the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force and plays a key role in promoting the welfare and interests of military veterans across the country.
