Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State, has inaugurated a digital learning centre built by the Katsina Local Government Council, at the Muhammad Dodo Primary School, Katsina – Lay out.
During the inauguration of the centre on Monday in Katsina, Radda said that the effort was part of the council Chairman, Alhaji Isah Miqdad’s development projects.
According to the Governor, the importance of the centre which had been fully equipped with modern equipment cannot be over emphasised.
He added, “This is a learning centre with modern equipment to allow our young men and women to learn ICT components, and also to be literate in terms of digital learning.
“As we’re all aware, the world has moved to a new direction in which it is mandatory for all our youth, both men and women, to learn how to use computers, because that is where the world is moving to.”
Radda also thanked the council chairman for finding it worthy to establish the centre in the heart of Katsina so that the youths can utilise for their benefit and for the benefit of the state.
“You are all aware that the West African Examination Council (WAEC), and the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), have introduced computer based examinations.
“For us to do it well, and to fare very well among our colleagues in the nation, we need to open so many digital learning centres for our teaming youths to learn how to operate computer at any time.
“So, the chairman has done excellently well, and you cannot even quantify the number of people that will be trained under this centre,” he commended the chairman.
According to Radda, the gesture is one of the best empowerment programmes for the teaming youths in the local government.
Earlier, Miqdad said the centre was a direct outcome of Radda’s courageous and reform-driven decision to grant true financial autonomy to all local government areas in the state.
According to him, that decision changed the destiny of local governance, and also challenged them to think beyond routine, and to look beyond their comfort zones.
Miqdad said, “This centre is a gateway, a door through which thousands of young people will step into a future shaped by knowledge, technology, and innovation.
“It stands to promote digital literacy for all children, innovation, creative thinking, youth empowerment/employability and also community-wide access to modern learning tools
“Completed within five weeks, despite scarce resources, it symbolises what can happen when purpose meets discipline, and when leadership from above inspires action below.” (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
