The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has clarified procedures for pensioners who are unable to travel to zonal offices due to age, illness, or distance. The initiative allows pension verification, complaints, and benefit processing without requiring physical visits.
Pensioners who cannot travel can apply for Mobile Verification by submitting required documents through a third party with a formal request. These documents include a recent full-sized photograph, complete contact details, career records, and a medical report confirming the travel restriction. Once approved, PTAD deploys mobile officers to verify the pensioner at home.
The mobile verification process also applies to bedridden spouses of pensioners. Family members must notify the nearest zonal office and submit the necessary documents so officers can carry out home verification and enroll the pensioner for the Monthly Pension (MP) scheme.
In cases of deceased pensioners, the Next of Kin must formally inform PTAD of the death. Required documents include the pensioner’s appointment letters, retirement letter, death certificate, bank statements, letters of administration, computation sheets, and valid identification. PTAD will coordinate with banks to release any outstanding funds to eligible Next of Kin.
PTAD is currently extending in-house verification services to additional zonal offices. For now, such services are available in Abuja and Lagos.
Pensioners submitting bank statements for verification or complaints must provide a duly signed and stamped NUBAN statement on the bank’s official letterhead. Statements should cover the period from retirement or the date a complaint arose to the present. Where there is no complaint, only the last six months are required.
The mobile and in-house verification measures aim to ensure all pensioners, including those with mobility challenges, can access their entitlements efficiently and securely.
PTAD continues to advise pensioners and families to follow official procedures and provide complete documentation to avoid delays in verification or benefit processing.
