As the African Democratic Congress (ADC) intensifies preparations for the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, one of the party’s frontline aspirants, Prof. Olumuyiwa Babalola has called for a strategic alliance built on unity, zoning fairness, and purposeful leadership.
In a carefully worded statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, Prof. Babalola urged the leadership and members of the ADC to pursue a broad-based consensus that reflects political maturity and regional balance across the three senatorial districts of the state.
“Our goal should be victory for ADC, not personal ego. What the party needs now is collective reasoning, not division. The time has come to consolidate our strengths across Ekiti – north, central, and sout – in order to present a winning ticket that embodies inclusiveness, competence, and fairness,” He said
The respected academic and political strategist from the Ekiti South Senatorial District emphasized that ADC must act with foresight, ensuring that its ticket reflects the spirit of equity that has sustained political stability in the state
“Every serious political movement must understand timing, balance, and cooperation. If we truly want to win, our strategy must be smart, and our choices must unite, not scatter our strength.”
Babalola declared.
He further noted that the ADC remains the most credible platform for restoring integrity and accountability in governance, adding that Ekiti people are yearning for a leadership that combines experience, youth energy, and moral conviction.
“The future belongs to those who can build bridges. Politics is not war. It is a partnership. We must come together under one formidable front that speaks to every community in Ekiti,” He added.
Although Prof. Babalola has remained discreet about his next political move. Insiders within the ADC interpret his latest statement as a strategic signal — suggesting his alignment toward a broader coalition that may reshape the governorship contest within the party.
Party sources describe him as a “kingmaker-in-waiting” whose endorsement could prove decisive in building a North–South understanding capable of producing a strong and balanced ADC ticket for 2026.
Babalola, a renowned technocrat and grassroots mobilizer, reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the ADC and commitment to Ekiti’s unity, stressing that personal ambition must always bow to the greater good.
“We must not allow internal rivalry to weaken our structure. ADC’s strength lies in its unity. Let us act wisely and position our party to win,” he concluded.
