The Director of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) Foundation School, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ibrahim Kayode Adam, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Ilorin Emirate Staff Association (IESA), University of Ilorin.
Prof. Adam succeeds former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Suleiman Funsho Ambali, and will lead the Association for the next three years alongside other newly elected officials.
The inauguration ceremony was held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the National Secretariat of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Geri-Alimi, Ilorin.
Other elected officials include Mr. Abdulrasheed Gidado, Deputy Director at the Academic Planning Unit and member of the University Governing Council, as Vice Chairman I; Dr. Taofeeq Olanrewaju Lawal, Head of the Department of Physics, as Vice Chairman II; Mr. Iyanda Abubakar Elewure of the Registry, as Secretary; and Mallam Galadima Mohammed Jamiu of the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), as Assistant Secretary.
Also elected were Mrs. Abdulrahman Hafsat (Social Welfare Officer I), Mrs. Aremu Adama Bolajoko (Social Welfare Officer II), Mr. Ibrahim Olarewaju Yahaya (Legal Adviser II), Mrs. Sherifat Jimoh-Jibril (Auditor), Mr. Mustapha Kabiru Kayode (Financial Secretary), and Mr. Tajudeen Abdulwahab Babamale, Principal Information Officer, as Public Relations Officer.
The immediate past Chairman and Secretary, Prof. Suleiman Funsho Ambali and Mr. Abubakar Imam, respectively, will serve as ex-officio members.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Adam called for unity, cooperation, and collective responsibility among members to further the progress of both the Association and the University.
He urged members to remain steadfast in their commitment to the University’s growth, describing its success as a reflection of staff dedication and professionalism. He also encouraged members to uphold integrity, diligence, and a strong work ethic, saying they should “work for the University as though it were their own enterprise.”
Prof. Adam expressed gratitude to members for their trust and pledged to justify their confidence through transparency, teamwork, and selfless service.
In his valedictory address, outgoing Chairman Prof. Ambali thanked members for their cooperation and support throughout his tenure. He highlighted the collective efforts that shaped his administration’s achievements and urged members to extend similar loyalty and commitment to the new executive.
Prof. Ambali further advised the new leadership to consolidate on past successes while promoting inclusiveness, harmony, and unity within the Association. He wished Prof. Adam and his team a successful tenure marked by progress and continued excellence within the University community
