Prof. Egbewole to Preside Over Key Legal Biography Event

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, will preside over the public presentation and launch of Kuliya of Ilorin: A Life of Purpose on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

The biography chronicles the life of Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, former Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of Osun State University, Osogbo, and a prominent legal practitioner based in Ilorin. Prof. Ali is also a former Chairman of the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State-Owned Universities and a long-standing friend and benefactor of the University of Ilorin.

The event, organized by the Nigerian Media Parliament (NMP), will be held at the Auditorium of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, from 10:00 a.m. It will coincide with the unveiling of the Kuliya Ngari of Ilorin Emirate’s National Youth Mentorship Summit.

Prof. Egbewole, recognized for his contributions to legal scholarship and university administration, is expected to provide strategic direction and emphasize the event’s focus on mentorship, scholarship, and nation-building.

A highlight of the gathering will be the keynote address by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN.

Other dignitaries expected to attend include the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, SAN; Ilorin-based legal practitioner Mr. Kehinde Kolawole Eleja, SAN; and the Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Prof. Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji.

The launch of Kuliya of Ilorin is seen as a celebration of legal excellence and mentorship, highlighting the enduring impact of Prof. Ali’s career on Nigerian higher education and the legal profession.

Prof. Egbewole’s presence underscores the University of Ilorin’s commitment to fostering scholarship and nurturing leadership through engagement with distinguished alumni and legal luminaries.

The event is expected to draw academics, legal professionals, and youth leaders from across the region, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and knowledge transfer in nation-building.
