Police Rescue 76 Children in Kaduna

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspects and rescued 76 children following a foiled attack and attempted kidnapping in Kaduna State. The incident occurred on January 5 in the Kasuwan Magani area after police received credible intelligence about plans by suspected bandits to abduct children being transported through the area.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, operatives from the Kasuwan Magani Division were swiftly deployed and successfully repelled the attackers. The operation led to the rescue of 76 children—both boys and girls—aged between seven and 20 years, all of whom were unharmed. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly transporting the children to different parts of the country for child labour and domestic work.

Hundeyin said the suspects are currently in police custody, while the rescued children are being kept at the Kaduna State Police Command headquarters pending identification and reunion with their parents or guardians. He added that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details of the operation and arrest other possible collaborators, after which the suspects will be charged to court.
