The Commissioner of Police in Osun, Ibrahim Gotan, has warned applicants participating in the ongoing constable recruitment screening exercise against offering money or sexual favours to secure selection.
Gotan gave the warning while addressing shortlisted applicants at the State Police Command headquarters on Monday in Osogbo.
He was represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of administration, Ademola Adebayo.
Gotan congratulated the applicants for being shortlisted for the physical screening exercise.
He advised those who might not be selected at the end of the process to accept the outcome peacefully and avoid causing any disturbance.
The CP also cautioned against desperation, bribery and attempts to influence the process through sexual inducement.
“Your nomination and selection are commendable, and I congratulate you on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police for making the list.
“Comport yourselves during the exercise. I wish you good luck, and if you are not picked at the end of the exercise, do not complain”, he said.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) team lead at the screening, Mrs Adefunmilayo Akinyose, said the team was responsible for verifying the applicants’ certificates.
“We need copies of your certificates. To make the process seamless, ensure you have all your certificates in order,” she said.
Akinyose explained that the PSC team would screen the applicants’ certificates to confirm they possess the required qualifications, while the police would handle the physical screening.
The Head of Screening, ACP Yusuf Adeyemi, also warned applicants against offering bribes to influence the process.
“Do not put yourselves in trouble by giving money for lobbying. This is a free exercise.
“You do not have to lobby. If you lobby and get caught, you will be in serious trouble.
“Do not use the backdoor to work your way into the police. Leave everything in God’s hands,” he said.(NAN) www.nannews.com
