The Kano State Police Command has arrested two armed robbery suspects and recovered a stolen tricycle along the Kano-Maiduguri highway.
Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said in a statement on October 6, that the breakthrough followed a report by one Nasiru Ibrahim on September 31, 2026.
Ibrahim reported that unknown persons chartered his tricycle from Hotoro Quarters, Kano to Yar Gaya in Dawakin Kudu LGA for N8,000.
While en-route along the highway, the suspects brought out locally made guns, threatened him at gunpoint, robbed him of his tricycle and lured him into a nearby bush before escaping.
Upon receipt of the report, Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordered sustained follow-up and intelligence-led operations.
Consequently, officers attached to Filin Hockey Division on October 3, at about 1:30pm, traced and recovered the tricycle at Wudil LGA along the highway.
Two suspects were arrested – Abubakar Isah, 27, and Shehu Ibrahim, 25, both of Zogarawa Village, Dawakin Kudu LGA. Exhibits including the robbed tricycle and two locally made guns were recovered from them.
During investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime.
The CP commended officers for their professionalism and appreciated residents for their support.
The Command called on members of the public, especially those who may have fallen victim to similar tricycle robbery along the Hotoro – Dawakin Kudu – Wudil axis, to come forward to Filin Hockey Police Division for identification or contact the IPO on 08107292007.
The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
