Police rearrests Angela Okorie after meeting bail conditions

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on Tuesday rearrested Nollywood actress Angela Okorie shortly after her release from the Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State.

TheNewsGuru(TNG) reports that the actress’ was picked up just hours after she perfected her bail conditions granted by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

It would be recalled that the actress  was initially arrested on January 26 in Lagos and arraigned in Abuja over alleged cyberstalking and cyberbullying charges, stemming from a petition by fellow actress Mercy Johnson Okojie.

She was remanded in Suleja Prison pending her bail hearing. On January 30, Justice Emeka Nwite approved her bail in the sum of ₦5 million, with one surety in like sum (a Level 13 civil servant), along with strict verification requirements, including an affidavit of means, appointment letter, promotion letter, passport photographs, and residence checks.

After successfully meeting these conditions and securing her freedom from the correctional facility, the actress was immediately taken back into custody.

Reports indicate the rearrest followed a fresh petition from a businesswoman alleging that Okorie owes her ₦5 million, which she has refused to repay.

Actor Stanley Ontop via his Instagram page had raised alarms about a possible plot to rearrest her upon release, claiming police were stationed outside the prison with a new petition.

The FCT Police have not issued an official statement as of the latest updates, and efforts to contact their spokesperson were unsuccessful.
