The Niger State Police Command has announced the killing of three suspected kidnappers during a clearance operation in Kokolo forest near Kawo-Auna village, Nasko, Magama Local Government Area.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Minna on Friday.
He said the operation, carried out by the Special Task Team (STT) in collaboration with local vigilantes, followed credible intelligence and was launched on September 12, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m.
“During the raid, the team engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle, leading to the neutralisation of three suspects, while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds. A kidnapped victim was rescued in the process,” Abiodun said.
He added that two AK-74 rifles and 49 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the hideout.
The command has launched further investigations to track down the fleeing suspects and appealed to nearby communities to report anyone found with gunshot injuries.
