The police on Monday arraigned one Raji Moshood, 68, in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly destroying crops worth N400,000.

Moshood, whose address was not provided, was charged with malicious conduct and damage, likely to cause breach of peace.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that Moshood committed the offences on Sept. 29 at Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan.

Adegbite said that the suspect “unlawfully and maliciously damaged plantain and pineapple crops worth N400,000, belonging to one Adekola Kelani.

“He conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace, by subletting a piece of land that didn’t belong to him and destroying the crops.”

He added that the offences contravened sections 451 and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

However, Moshood pleaded not guilty to the charges, as the Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 and two reliable sureties in like sum.

She then adjourned the case until Dec. 8 for hearing. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
