Police arraign 4 for alleged motorcycle theft, breach of peace 

The Police on Thursday arraigned four defendants before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

The Police on Thursday arraigned four defendants before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

The defendants are Famisa Gbenga, 34, Sunday Tosin, 38, Olarewaju Damotola,29 and Ayegbasi Adewole, 42, are facing a two-count charge of stealing and breach of peace.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Yomi Osuolale, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on the Sept.19 at about 04:20 a.m at Dalimore in in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendants stole one Bajaj motorcycle valued at N800,000, belonging to one Ajayi Sunday.

Osuolale also alleged that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.

He told the court that the offence contravened Section 302 and 181(1) (d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him assemble his witnesses.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.

Counsel to the defendants, Mr Adedayo Awe, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele  granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.

She adjourned the case till Oct. 23 for hearing.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
