The Plateau State Government has arrested individuals who allegedly threatened that attacks would occur in Jos after Ramadan, according to the state Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap.
Ramnap disclosed this on Tuesday during an interview on Arise Television, following the killing of at least 20 people by gunmen who attacked Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area on Sunday.
She said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to investigate the threats and bring those responsible for the violence to justice, stressing that no responsible government would ignore intelligence about planned attacks.
The commissioner noted that the police would handle the arrests and investigations, while prosecutions would proceed through the judiciary, describing the process as a coordinated institutional effort to address insecurity in the state.
Ramnap also confirmed that a Deputy Inspector-General of Police recently visited Plateau, where the governor reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring that investigations are thorough and that more suspects are apprehended where necessary.
She added that tackling insecurity requires collective responsibility, urging residents and stakeholders to support authorities in efforts to restore lasting peace across the state.
