Plateau Governor Vows Action on 20-Year Violence Report

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has pledged to implement the recommendations of the Fact-Finding Committee on Incessant Attacks, Killings, and Destruction in the state over the past two decades.

The 10-member panel, inaugurated by Gov. Mutfwang in May 2025, was tasked with investigating the root causes of recurring violence in the state since 2001. On Wednesday, the committee submitted its report, revealing that more than 11,000 people had lost their lives over the 20-year period.

The findings also indicated that at least 420 communities across 13 local government areas had been attacked between 2001 and 2025.

While receiving members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors at the Government House in Jos, the governor assured that the state government would ensure justice for the victims and take steps to prevent further violence.

Gov. Mutfwang further promised to forward the committee’s report to President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of federal support in addressing the longstanding security challenges in Plateau State.
