Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has visited former Oyo State governor and Olubadan-designate, Rashidi Ladoja, in Ibadan, pledging his support for his ascension to the throne. Obi, who was accompanied by members of his campaign team, also met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo during the visit.
Speaking to journalists, Obi described Ibadan as a city of strategic importance to Nigeria’s political, social, and economic development. He noted that Ladoja’s experience as a former governor, senator, and businessman positioned him to lead Ibadan to greater heights.
“The visit is about Nigeria, selfless leadership, leadership committed to turning society around. Ibadan is central to the country’s development, and I will support him as Olubadan for the sake of one Nigeria,” Obi said.
Responding, Ladoja said his aspiration to the Olubadan throne was a continuation of his lifelong service to humanity. “That I am alive today is further confirmation of the grace of God upon my life. It is God who enthrones Olubadan, not wealth or influence. That is why I will continue to give thanks,” he said
