The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has established a new Directorate of Youth Mobilisation as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots engagement and expand its support base, particularly among young people, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Announcing the development, the party confirmed the appointment of Mallam Mohammed Abdulmumeen, the immediate past State Youth Leader, as the Director of the new Directorate, while Mallam Babamale Kadir Abdulrahman was named Deputy Director.
Abdulmumeen, a farmer, entrepreneur, and community development advocate from Kaiama in Kaiama Local Government Area, holds a degree in Education from the University of Ilorin. He has served the PDP in several capacities, including as Legislative Aide, Special Assistant, and State Youth Leader, bringing a wealth of experience to his new position.
His deputy, Babamale Kadir Abdulrahman, hails from Alanamu Ward in Ilorin West Local Government Area. He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from the University of Ilorin and has previously served as Assistant Youth Leader and Assistant Secretary at the ward level before becoming Ilorin West Local Government Youth Leader.
Speaking on the appointments, the Kwara PDP Chairman, Hon. Isa Bawa Adamu, expressed confidence in the appointees’ abilities to revitalise youth participation and reposition the party ahead of 2027.
“We are excited to have these young, vibrant, and dedicated party men leading this crucial directorate,” Hon. Bawa said. “Their energy and passion for the PDP will be invaluable as we reconnect with the grassroots, strengthen our structures, and work towards reclaiming Kwara State in 2027.”
He urged the duo to collaborate effectively with other directorates and party organs to advance the PDP’s collective vision and objectives.
