Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu has been named the winner of the Turkish Super Lig Goal of the Month award for August, following his stunning performance for Trabzonspor.
Onuachu’s superb header in the Black Sea Storm’s 1-1 draw against Samsunspor was voted the best goal of the month, earning him the first award of the 2025/26 Turkish top-flight season.
The 31-year-old forward, who joined Trabzonspor on a permanent deal from English side Southampton during the summer transfer window, has been in red-hot form since returning to Turkey.
Onuachu continued his fine run last Friday, scoring one goal and providing an assist in Trabzonspor’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Kayserispor. His consistent performances have made him one of the league’s standout players this season.
With six goals and one assist in eight league appearances so far, Onuachu currently leads the Turkish Super Lig scoring chart. His aerial prowess, intelligent positioning, and finishing ability have earned him widespread praise from fans and pundits alike.
The towering Nigerian, who previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at Trabzonspor before making his move permanent, has quickly reestablished himself as a key figure in Abdullah Avcı’s attacking setup.
Onuachu’s resurgence in Turkey has also reignited discussions about his potential return to the Super Eagles squad as Nigeria prepares for upcoming World Cup and AFCON qualifying matches.
Since leaving Genk in Belgium for Southampton in 2023, Onuachu’s career has taken several turns, but his recent form in Turkey suggests he has rediscovered his confidence and scoring touch.
Trabzonspor fans will be hoping their in-form striker continues to deliver as the club pushes for a return to European competition this season.
