Pastor Femi Lazarus faces heavy backlash after viral comments on women’s period

Famous Nigerian cleric Femi Lazarus is trending online after his comments about women’s menstrual cycles sparked widespread reactions.

Social media users have criticized the religious leader, accusing him of being insensitive and dismissive.

In a viral video during a sermon, Lazarus discussed women’s mood swings during their periods, suggesting that it’s not menstruation but a woman’s personality causing problems.

“You are not the first woman to see your period, so your menstruation is not the problem. I have never seen anywhere in the Bible any woman complain about menstrual pain. You are simply not a peaceful person,” he said.

Many women felt the statement was inappropriate, arguing that it made light of a natural biological process and didn’t fully acknowledge the real experiences that accompany menstruation.

Social media reactions were swift, particularly from women. One user commented, “You are sick… Preach Jesus, not gender!” Another added, “This is why women are fed up with male religious leaders speaking on female issues.”

Critics argue that men of God should focus on their spiritual calling rather than speaking on issues they may not fully understand.

Apostle Femi Lazarus’ remarks continue to divide opinions, with some defending him and others insisting on the need for greater empathy and awareness when discussing women’s health.
