Oyo State Attack Sparks Call for Rebuilt Security Architecture

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has said the recent deadly attack at Old Oyo National Park underscores the urgent need to strengthen security across the state.

Oguntoyinbo made the call in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday, reacting to the killing of no fewer than five forest rangers by suspected gunmen at the park on Tuesday.

He condemned the attack, describing it as tragic and disturbing, and warned that it highlights serious gaps in the state’s security framework.

According to the PDP chieftain, communities, particularly those in border areas, require increased security presence to prevent further attacks and protect lives and property.

Oguntoyinbo said the incident should serve as a wake-up call for authorities to urgently rebuild and reinforce the state’s security architecture.

He also expressed sympathy to the families of the victims and the Oyo State government, noting that the loss has deeply affected the people of the state.

“We should take the attack as a timely reminder of the need to rebuild the security architecture in the state, especially in the border areas,” he said. “I sympathise with the victims of the recent attack in Oriire Local Government Area. My heartfelt sympathy goes to the Oyo State government, the families of the victims, and the entire people of Oyo State.”
