Oyo: INEC extends voter registration to July 26

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State has extended the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by two weeks and introduced an online self-service option for eligible first-time voters.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Professor Adeniran Rahmon Tella, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday.

According to him, the exercise, which was earlier scheduled to end on Friday, July 10, 2026, will now run until Sunday, July 26, 2026, across all 33 INEC local government area offices and the State Office in Ibadan.

Professor Tella also said the extension would accommodate the introduction of an online self-service voter registration portal for first-time voters, which will open on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

He explained that eligible citizens can now initiate and complete their voter registration, including biometric capture, using their personal devices through the Commission’s dedicated portal, cvr.inecnigeria.org.

The Oyo REC urged all eligible Nigerians in the state who are yet to register to take advantage of the extended registration period by either visiting the INEC state and local government offices or using the new online platform.

He, however, reiterated the Commission’s commitment to a credible, inclusive and accessible voter registration process ahead of future electoral activities in the state.

“The online self-service option includes a step-by-step guide that enables citizens to complete the process without having to physically visit any INEC office.

“Eligible citizens can now initiate and complete their voter registration, including biometric capture, using their personal devices through the Commission’s dedicated portal, cvr.inecnigeria.org.

“The Commission remains committed to a credible, inclusive and accessible voter registration process ahead of future electoral activities in the state,” he stated.
