The Osun Assembly on Wednesday passed the state’s N723 billion 2026 budget.
The budget, titled “Osun State Appropriation Bill 2026”, was passed after a motion for its third reading was moved by Mr Saheed Fatunmise, House Committee Chairman on Finance and Appropriation, during the plenary session in Osogbo.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation on the appropriation bill was adopted by the assembly at its plenary on Tuesday.
Mr Adewale Egbedun, the Speaker of the Assembly, said after the passage of the budget that clean copies would be forwarded to Gov. Ademola Adeleke for his assent.
NAN reports that the approved budget was N18 billion higher than the N705 billion presented by Gov. Adeleke on Nov. 12 to the assembly for consideration.
The governor said the budget comprises recurrent expenditure of N317 billion, made up of personnel costs of N135 billion and overhead costs of N182 billion, representing 45 per cent of the total budget.
Adeleke also said capital expenditure amounts to N388 billion, which is 55 per cent of the total budget.(NAN) (www.nannews.com)
