Ondo:The Bandits Told Us To Lie Down, And Stripped Us Naked. After A While, They Left Us Alone-Victim

A female health worker, Omolabake Kayode, has shared her traumatic experience after she and two colleagues were abducted by armed bandits at the Comprehensive Primary Health Centre in the Oke Ijebu area of Akure.

According to The Punch, recounting the incident, Kayode explained that the attackers stormed the government-run facility around 2 a.m. on Saturday, arriving in a bus. According to her, the gunmen forcefully seized her and two other health workers, while some staff members attempted to escape by hiding within the premises.

“They came in a bus, barged into the centre, and grabbed us. Some of my colleagues ran and hid inside the toilets, but the attackers dragged them out, beat them, and collected their phones,” she said.

She narrated that the kidnappers drove them to a forested area along the Akure–Ondo expressway, where they subjected them to humiliation and financial exploitation by forcing access to their bank accounts.

“They told us to lie down and demanded our bank codes and app details.

“They transferred everything from all our accounts, collected our phones, naked us and warned us not to raise our heads, saying they would kill us.

“After a while, they drove off and left us naked in the bush. My shirt fell off, so I picked it and wore it. We were terrified for our lives,” she added.

Kayode added that after the assailants fled, she and her colleagues cautiously made their way on foot until they reached a nearby correctional facility in Olokuta. There, they reported the incident to officials, who subsequently alerted local security operatives.

“We were scared, but we had to keep moving. The officers contacted Amotekun, and that’s how we were rescued,” she said.

Confirming the development, the Corps Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, stated that the three victims were successfully rescued at about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday and are currently receiving medical attention at an Amotekun facility.

He further disclosed that operatives also rescued a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son, who had been abducted the previous evening in the Pelebe community along Oda Road in Akure, following a confrontation with their captors.
