The Lagos State Police Command has declared human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore wanted for planning to incite public disorder.
This follows the human rights activist’s release from detention over the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest.
Subsequently, Omoleye Sowore was rearrested over his comment about the Inspector General of Police (IGP), whom he described as a goat.
Lagos State Police Command Declares Sowore Wanted
In a now-viral video, Lagos State Police Commissioner, Olohundare Jimoh declared Sowore wanted during an interview with the media.
According to him, Sowore was declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command for planning to cause disturbance to public peace and obstruct traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge.
Furthermore, Olohundare Jimoh directed that Omoyele Sowore should report himself to the nearest police station.
It would be recalled that In 2019, Sowore was arrested and detained for organizing the #RevolutionNow protests, which called for sweeping reforms in governance and the security sector.
In July 2025, Sowore’s AI-powered Ray-Ban glasses were forcefully removed by a police officer during a peaceful protest at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Notably, Sowore has led several protests and demonstrations.
He led the #EndBadGovernance protest in August 2024 and the October 2024 protest organized to campaign against corruption, bad governance, insecurity, and poor management of the country’s economy.
