Nigerian singer Stanley Omah Didia, widely known as Omah Lay, has raised concern among fans after disclosing that he is once again battling depression.
The “Soso” hitmaker made the revelation in a Snapchat outburst, suggesting that his current struggles are linked to his recording contract and dealings in the music industry.
In his post, Omah Lay directed blame at his former manager as well as his younger self for signing contracts he now regrets.
“Fk contracts. Fk labels. Fk the music business. Fk my younger self. F**k my manager. God please, I’m losing my mind again,” he wrote.
This public cry comes just weeks after Omah Lay parted ways with his manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi. While Awoniyi claimed their separation was amicable, the singer’s label mate, Kaestyle, suggested that Awoniyi was actually dismissed.
Omah Lay has previously spoken openly about his mental health. His debut album, Boy Alone, released on July 15, 2022, addressed his experiences with depression. Days after its release, he admitted in a now-deleted X post that his struggles worsened following an affair with his therapist.
The singer’s latest revelation has once again placed the spotlight on the pressures of fame and the challenges many artists face in the music industry.
