Okpebholo orders immediate probe into Benin market kidnapping, vows to bring perpetrators to justice

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has strongly condemned the reported abduction of individuals at the popular Vegetable Market along Airport Road in Benin City, describing the incident as a disturbing attack on innocent residents and a threat to public peace.

The governor, through a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, directed security agencies to move swiftly in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Governor Orders Urgent Police Action

Reacting to the development, Okpebholo instructed the Edo State Commissioner of Police to immediately launch a coordinated investigation aimed at rescuing the victims and tracking down those responsible for the attack.

The governor stressed that criminal acts of such nature would not be tolerated under his administration, warning that anyone involved would face the full consequences of the law.

‘Edo Will Not Bow To Criminals’

Okpebholo reiterated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state, assuring residents that efforts were underway to strengthen security and prevent similar incidents.

He maintained that the government would continue working closely with security agencies to ensure that criminal elements have no safe haven in Edo State.

“The safety of our people remains a top priority. We will not allow criminals to undermine the peace and security of our communities,” the governor said.

Residents Urged To Remain Vigilant

The governor also called on residents of Benin City and other parts of the state to remain alert and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and movements.
