Elated residents of Itokin, Agbowa, Iyana Mortuary and Ogbere area of Ogun State, Nigeria have commended the Assistant Inspector of Police, AIG Adegoke Fayoade in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos for coming to their rescue in time of needs to arrest all the deadly criminal elements such as armed robbers, ritualists and cultists who had been terrorising, attacking, robbing and even killing them for long.
Some of those who spoke with our correspondent under conditions of anonymity for security reasons stated that they had been facing attacks in the hands of these criminal elements for long in the area with no help from the local Police in the area, but that they were surprised immediately they petitioned AIG Fayoade he responded swiftly and arrested all the suspects and ever since, they have been sleeping with two eyes closed.
The residents also hailed the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun for his foresight in deploying AIG Fayoade to the Zone 2 Command to provide security for the residents and save lives.
Police said the latest breakthrough occurred between November 24 and December 1, when AIG Fayoade received various petitions from the residents of those communities in Ogun State, that those suspected criminals were making live unbearable for them in the area.
Following the report, AIG Fayoade gave a marching order to his crack team led the Commander-in-charge of the Zonal Dragon Squad, SUPOL Adeyemi Akeem to fish out all the suspects anywhere they might be hiding.
The SUPOL Akeem Squad then stormed the Itokin, Agbowa, Ogun State hideout of members of the Aiye Confraternity Cult Group who had been attacking and killing themselves and members of the public and arrested five suspects including a herbalist.
Police identified the suspects as Adewale Adejumo aka Shadex, 42; Sunday Luky aka Otega, 36; Mathew Charles aka Paleji,29; Adeniji Osipitu aka Awo, 36, and a herbalist,Fasasi Abiola aka Honey boy, 31.
Weapons recovered from the suspects according to the Police includes one double barrel short gun, one single barrel shot gun, one dagger knife, one battle axe and cutlasses.
Police further said that on November 28, 2025, the AIG Fayoade Special Team swooped on the hideout of deadly robbery suspects at Iyana Mortuary area of Ogun State who the Police alleged specialised in robbing passengers inside commercial vehicles and pushing off the victims from the moving vehicle around Abeokuta axis and arrested three suspects.
Police named the arrested suspects as Fadare Olusegun; Tanimowo Sodig and Soetan Isa.
Items recovered from them included one locally made cut-to-size pistol, one single barrel pistol, one of their operational Nissan Micra car with registration number, KSH 793 XA and four android phones.
Police said that on December 1, the SUPOL Akeem roving team invaded the hideout of some wanted notorious cultists at Ogbere area of Ogun State accused of killing a Police Officer, Constable Kamorudeen Olalekan and one other and arrested 14 suspects namely Daniel Friday; Emmanuel Olajuwon; Adebayo Adekola; Adetayo Oluwaseun; Onasanya Opeoluwa and nine others.
Items recovered from the suspects according to the Police includes one locally made single barrel pistol, two battle axes, cutlasses, dagger knives, charms, 15 mobile phones and a sum of N72,000.
Police said one of the suspects had been charged to court while others are still undergoing interrogation and that after investigation, all the suspects would be charged to court.
