A Celestial Church of Christ evangelist, Abidemi Odukoya, and his wife, Adenike, have died following a reported domestic dispute at their residence in the Akinode/Ibogun community of Ogun State.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2026, after the couple allegedly had an altercation that escalated into a physical confrontation.
According to reports, Adenike was found unconscious and bleeding inside the couple’s residence after residents were alerted by cries for help.
A former Chairman of the Community Development Association in the area, Adejimi Olawumi, said neighbours who responded to the incident discovered the woman seriously injured and lying in a pool of blood.
Olawumi reportedly said the couple’s son, who was in another room at the time, told neighbours that he did not see what happened between his parents.
Following the discovery, residents reportedly began searching for Odukoya after he was found to be absent from the residence.
He was later reportedly found in the Ifo area of Ogun State after being struck by a vehicle. Police officers took him to a hospital, where he was subsequently confirmed dead.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear, as conflicting accounts have emerged over what transpired between the couple before the incident.
Reports also indicate that the couple had experienced disagreements in the past. A relative reportedly disclosed that an earlier domestic dispute involving the couple had been reported to the police but was later resolved.
Confirming the incident, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, Opeyemi Oluborode, said the police had commenced an investigation.
“The police is investigating the incident,” Oluborode said.
The police investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and determine whether any criminal offence was committed.
As investigations continue, authorities are expected to rely on evidence from witnesses, medical findings and other relevant information to establish what led to the deaths of the couple.
