Ogun governor hails Tinubu over release of abducted Niger students

By Abiodun Lawal

Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has praised President Bola Tinubu’s doggedness and leadership following the release of 130 abducted students of St Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, Niger.

Abiodun, in a statement issued on Sunday in Abeokuta, said the development showed that evil forces would not triumph over Nigeria.

He noted that 100 students were released earlier, bringing the total freed to 230, and fulfilling Tinubu’s pledge to secure their freedom unharmed.

The governor commended the president’s security measures, saying they had restored Nigerians’ confidence in their government.

According to him, the steady release of abducted persons demonstrated Tinubu’s capacity to confront Nigeria’s security challenges head-on.

“It is heartwarming that the students and their parents will celebrate the Yuletide together after such a terrible ordeal.

“The security agencies must ensure the perpetrators are prosecuted to the fullest extent allowed by law,” he said.

He said the ordeal tested the Papiri community, parents and Niger, adding, “I rejoice with them in this triumph over the forces of darkness.”

Abiodun said the incident showed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to a safe, secure and prosperous Nigeria, deserving collective prayers and support.

The governor also lauded Tinubu’s resolve to tackle kidnapping and terrorism, saying it would restore local and international confidence.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the students were abducted on Nov. 21. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
