Former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan has accused former US president, Barack Obama of plotting his defeat in the 2015 presidential election.
The former President made this allegation in his new book, ‘My Transition Hours,‘ set to launch on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Details Of The Allegation
In his book, Jonathan alleged that Obama displayed unusual bias during the 2015 presidential election.
He claimed that Obama was overbearing and condescending in his message to Nigerians ahead of the 2015 general elections.
”On March 23, 2015, president Obama himself took the unusual step of releasing a message to Nigerians ahead of the 2015 general election. In that video, Obama urged Nigerians to open the next chapter by their votes“, He stated.
It would be recalled that Jonathan lost to former military President, Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 presidential election.
The election took place on March 28, 2015, and Buhari won with over 15 million votes.
Buhari’s victory marked the first time an opposition candidate had won a presidential election in Nigeria.
It’s worth noting that Mohammed Buhari handed over power to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29, 2023,.
The presidential inauguration and handover ceremony was held at the Eagle Square in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
However, Buhari passed away on July 13, 2025, after a prolonged illness.
