The Osogbo Accord Media Force (OAMF) has raised concerns over the alleged use of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s name and image, as well as the Accord party identity, on souvenirs and campaign materials reportedly circulated by Hon. Ayodeji Abdulai Olaiya, popularly known as Ayonic, the APC candidate for the Osogbo State House of Assembly.
In a statement, the group said the alleged use of the materials, if established, could mislead the public about their political affiliation and source. It called on Olaiya to clarify the matter and withdraw any materials found to have been used without authorization.
OAMF also urged the candidate to rely on his party’s identity, record and manifesto in seeking support from voters rather than materials associated with another political platform.
The group called on voters in Osogbo State Constituency to assess candidates based on their records, policies and previous engagements with constituents rather than campaign souvenirs or other incentives.
OAMF also highlighted the record of Accord candidate Hon. Bamidele Rasheed, whom it described as a sitting member of the state House of Assembly with ongoing engagements in the constituency, particularly in youth, women and agricultural empowerment.
“Politics should not be reduced to sharing souvenirs to deceive people or to gain votes in an inappropriate way,” the group said. It urged voters to examine candidates’ programmes and independently verify claims about their achievements.
The group further warned political actors against actions that could create confusion through the alleged unauthorized use of another politician’s name, image or party identity.
OAMF called on residents of Osogbo to remain politically informed, verify campaign claims and assess candidates on their records and stated programmes ahead of the election.
